Serviced accommodation means the property you stay in will be fully furnished and come equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. That’s just for starters though and there are lots of reasons serviced accommodation is different from a hotel, for example.
Let’s take a look…
What Is Serviced Accommodation?
Most of you will be familiar with the Airbnb concept by now – for an exchange of money, you get to stay in a property, or room where the experience will be quite different to that of staying in a hotel room. You usually get:
- Furnished space including day to day items you may need (iron, cooking appliances etc)
- More space, and a kitchen/additional living space
- Flexibility over the length of your stay
- Home comforts and conveniences
- A professionally cleaned space.
Serviced accommodation is a more flexible, usually shorter stay alternative to renting accommodation and for holidaymakers, a cheaper, more comfortable experience than stopping in a hotel. A sort of in between!
If you rent a house, it’s usually a longer-term agreement (although that’s not always the case), and a hotel would be used for a couple of nights – at least on domestic trips in the UK. But what if you want a place to stay that’s as comfortable as your own home and has all the flexibility of a hotel? That’s where serviced accommodation fits in nicely.
How Long Can You Stay In Serviced Accommodation?
Flexibility is the key with serviced accommodation, property owners will differ from each other but here at Ideal Lodgings, you can choose exactly how long you stay – from a couple of nights, a couple of weeks, or a couple of months.
Hotels are also flexible with their stays, but serviced accommodation may prove to be better value for longer stays, plus you get the other benefits that come with serviced accommodation.
This brings us on to…
What Are The Benefits Of Staying In Serviced Accommodation?
We’ve mentioned the flexibility of serviced accommodation and that is a major benefit but what else do you get?
Serviced accommodation is more of a guest experience than renting – you don’t need to do your own cleaning (well, within reason obviously!) but you are guaranteed a space that will be professionally cleaned before, during, and after your stay.
When compared to hotels, the biggest benefit you get is the space – staying as a guest in a full property means you have access to everything you would at home, such as a kitchen, living area, and a spacious bathroom. Having access to your own kitchen is cost-effective as you can prepare your own meals, and store drinks etc.

Serviced accommodation like ours also comes with conveniences to make your stay more comfortable such as free wi-fi, televisions, desks (for those who are working!), ample free parking, and fresh clean bedding.
For people on holidays or wanting a group get-together, we also have a range of properties that have more than one bedroom so can accommodate bigger groups. When staying with us you are also provided with your own keys, so you can come and go as you please.
Finally, serviced accommodation provides great value for money – even for short stays.
Who Stays In Serviced Accommodation?
A variety of people choose serviced accommodation over a hotel or a renting a house. It’s difficult to make a full list but here are some of the types of guests we have welcomed to our properties:
- Contract workers
- Holidaymakers/families/ tourists
- Hen/stag parties
- People needing emergency accommodation.
As you can see, a varied range of people come and stay in serviced accommodation. People looking for emergency accommodation might be people who have to temporarily leave their own homes because of a flood, or fire.
